About Steal A Recipe
It started in a kitchen, back in 2009.
We'd just launched a small baking company, and like a lot of people who cook, we had recipe books everywhere — stacked on counters, crammed in drawers, wedged onto shelves. Every time we went to make something, the same question came up: which book was that one in? The best recipes were scattered across a dozen covers, and half the battle was just finding them again.
So we built somewhere to keep them all in one place — searchable, organized, and easy to come back to. That was the beginning of Steal A Recipe.
The idea is as simple as the name: good recipes are meant to be shared. Borrow ours, pass yours along, and never lose track of a favorite again. You can browse by category, search by the ingredients you already have on hand, brush up on terms in the cooking glossary, and convert measurements without digging for a chart.
We've been at this a while now, and recently gave the whole site a ground-up refresh — faster and friendlier than the version we first launched. We're also digitizing vintage community cookbooks — the kind filled with recipes from real home cooks that you won't find anywhere else online — so those dishes don't get lost.
