Peel onions and
cut into quarters, slice thinly and set aside.
Cube cheese. Melt butter in skillet over medium heat, add onions, garlic, salt and pepper;
stirring often for 10 minutes until onions are translucent. Increase heat to medium high. Cook, 4 minutes,
stirring often, until
browned. Sprinkle with sugar and cook,
stirring often 6 to 8 minutes until onions are very
brown. Add sherry and Worcestershire sauce and cook 1 minute. cut out center of
bread and
cut into cubes.
Mix cheeses with onion mixture and put into loaf. Wrap in foil and
bake at 350 F for at least 1/2 hour until cheese melts. Serve with
bread cubes, crackers, etc.
